SUVs are larger and heavier than other types of cars, and people tend to associate this size and weight with enhanced safety. SUVs also offer higher seating and enhanced visibility to the driver and offer passengers space and comfort. Modern SUVs also come fitted with the latest active safety measures and feature construction with high-strength steel that protects passengers.
Cargo Capacity
We know hatchbacks are practical vehicles with a lot of storage capacity. SUVs multiply this practicality many times over. The cargo space in an SUV is typically more than that offered by most other car types. Even if it isn’t deeper than what is offered by a wagon, it is always taller. This can help while transporting items with unusual dimensions.
Winter Driving
People often live in places that experience inclement weather either seasonally or almost through the year. Driving on icy roads, through snow and sleet can be very tricky. This is where SUVs are useful. They have all-wheel-drive that helps them manage these conditions better. That said, most all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive cars can manage these tricky conditions well, whereas it’s mostly rear-wheel-drive cars that have a tough time.
Off-Road Capabilities
Then, there are people who either live in places that are wild and unpaved, or work in such places, or even head off into these places as part of their weekend getaway from cities. SUVs with four-wheel drive are extremely useful in such conditions. The enhanced ground clearance also helps to navigate obstacles, as does the more powerful engine.
